Truly, MSG is a unique and one and only product, however, the problems lies in the fact that during the processing of seaweed to MSG or whatever other processing they do, they unbind or Free the molecules until what is left is a free glutamate. So while MSG is one product, autolyzed yeast extract, and concentrated whey protein for example hav gone thru processing that makes free glutamate. I react to free glutamate. I do not react to the natural msg substance that is moleculary bound in natutal seaweed. It is the processing of industry that breaks it down into a form of free glutamate that is not natural that causes adverse effects.

There are no ingredients “similar” to MSG, and this is a ploy by the opposition to have it refuted in court. I propose you strike the “and similar ingredients” part of the petition for full effect.

My 90 year old mother reacts to msg with debilitating diarrhea. We are looking for a residential care facility that does NOT use msg. Impossible. As soon as a care center finds out about her msg reaction, they tell her they won’t accept her as a resident. Very sad.
Somebody need to educate Indonesia, where I am now living. Not only are they selling tons of prepackaged food with MSG but they sell the poison in it’s pure form in little packets and advertize it on TV as to how it enhances every meal that you cook

I have been researching the effects of MSG and what I am reading is scary. I am so glad that there are others willing to fight to get rid of this garbage.

It is easy for me to enjoy banning msg because I have discovered I get severe headaches from it. I do not know if this is only a common reaction to something others may not have an equal sensitivity. I am studying about the subject so I may be better informed. Certainly I agree with full disclosure about contents of food. If everyone had a severe reaction then the problem would be simple because the public would demand removal of MSG. On a more basic level MSG is often used to cover up the taste of lower quality food. I wonder how excited people would get if they really knew the true quality of the food they eat.
I found this website from spofa.com. I pray that something is done about MSG.

Ban MSG Now
It took years before it was readily accepted that cigarettes and smoking was a significant health hazard. Monosodium Glutamate or MSG is the new health hazard of the twenty first century. Production of this chemical has increased and it prevails in vast quantities in the human food chain. Act now to prevent the widespread use of this poison before it is too late.
